# Chicken Fox Corn — Changelog

Each release is archived in `../releases/v<version>/`.

## 2.4 — 2026-10-01
- **Optional "Sign in with Google".** Playing as a guest still works exactly as before. Signing in lets you continue your games on any device or browser.
  - Signing in keeps the games already on that browser.
  - If you played as a guest on several browsers, signing in on each one moves that browser's games onto your Google account.
- Firestore rules updated so a player can move their own seat onto their Google account (republish `firestore.rules`).

## 2.3 — 2026-10-01
- Credit line shortened to "© 2026".

## 2.2 — 2026-10-01
- Main menu credits: "A game by Aric Grauke & Kaleb Wentzel-Fisher, Copyright © 2026".

## 2.1 — 2026-10-01
- **Rule change: surrounding again.** If the Scarecrow is surrounded and the player with the most pieces around it has already won Surround, they don't get another condition, but they do move the Scarecrow to any empty lily pad. A tie still does nothing.
- **Rule change: draws.** If one move gives both players their second condition, the game is a draw.
- Placing the Scarecrow after a surround can't itself trigger another surround.

## 2.0 — 2026-10-01
- **Asynchronous online play.** Games are saved in the cloud (Firebase), so you and your friend no longer need to be online at the same time. Moves appear live when you are both online. This replaces the peer-to-peer connection; nobody has to "host".
- **Multiple games.** The main menu lists all your online games with the code, your friend's name, whose turn it is and when it was last played. Games can be removed from your list.
- **Rule change: every player can win every condition.** Winning Market, Capture or Surround no longer stops the other player from winning it too. The first player to win 2 conditions still wins.
  - If the Scarecrow is surrounded and the player with the most pieces around it has already won Surround, nothing happens. *(Changed in 2.1.)*
  - If one move gives both players their second condition, the player who made the move wins. *(Changed in 2.1.)*
- Version number shown on the main menu and in games.

## 1.0 — 2026-09-30
- First release: board, pieces, full rules engine, peer-to-peer online play with a game code, pass-and-play mode.
- Rule: no piece may move onto the Scarecrow, and the Scarecrow may only move onto an empty pad.
- The neutral piece is called the Scarecrow (the rulebook also calls it the Farmer).
